As we all know, we have already started the Special Jubilee year of Mercy. In Our Diocese too, we are celebrating this Jubilee year of Mercy in different stages.
In the first stage, the Committee of the Year of Mercy organized a Diocesan Pilgrimage on 22nd of February 2016 (Monday) towards the Door of Mercy opened in St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Jaffna Diocese in Jaffna on 25th of December 2015 by the Apostolic Nuncio for Sri Lanka.
All the parishes participated in this great event. More than Five thousand people participated. Many availed themselves of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and made use of this day in a holy manner, especially since it was in Lent.
The reflections were guided by Rev. Fr. Albert, a Priest from the Diocese of Thiruchy, and by Bro. Shaju. The event started at 8.30am, when the people come in procession and entered the Cathedral through the Door of Mercy and made their confession. It was followed by the celebration of the Eucharist.
Later there was an Eucharistic Adoration and the final blessing was given by Our Bishop, Rt. Revd. Dr. Justin B. Gnanapragasam. It ended at 1.00pm.
