Thirumarai kalamanram, the centre for performing arts in Jaffna, held the inauguration event for the upcoming Passion Play, “Velliyil Nyayiru,” on March 5th at the Kalai Gnana Surabi Meditation Centre in Jaffna. During the event, the script for the Passion Play was distributed to the performers, marking the beginning of preparations for the much-anticipated production.
Rev. Fr. Josephthas Jeberatnam, Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese, was present at the gathering, where he delivered an address and distributed the script to the performers who will take part in the play.
The “Velliyil Nyayiru” Passion Play is scheduled to take place from April 10th to 13th, with performances starting at 6:45 PM each evening at the CPA open stage on Jaffna’s Main Street.
Directed by Mr. Johnson Rajkumar, Deputy Director of the Centre for Performing Arts, the play will once again bring the Passion of Christ to the stage, drawing significant interest from audiences across the region.
