The St. Newman English Academy Day at Columbuthurai St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary was celebrated on March 27th at the Joy Christostam Auditorium. The event was led by Rev. Fr. Thayaparan, Rector of the Seminary, and guided by Rev. Fr. James Nathan, Moderator of the Academy.
The chief guest for the occasion was Ms. Timaandra Wijesuriya, a lecturer in English Literature at the University of Jaffna.
The event also featured the awarding of prizes to winners of various competitions organized by the academy to enhance students’ English proficiency.
A highlight of the celebration included artistic performances, including “Broadway Theatre” and a remarkable presentation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which was met with great appreciation for its outstanding execution.
The celebration was attended by priests, brothers, sisters, teachers, students, and seminarians, marking a memorable occasion for all involved.
