The 43rd death anniversary of Rev. Fr. Singharayar David, who died of a heart attack when the Jaffna Public Library was burnt down by a group of vehement Sinhalese, was held on May 1st in Thumbalai, Point Pedro.
This event was jointly organized by Rev. Fr. Bennet, the parish priest of Point Pedro, and by Mr. Jayaratnam Kutson Anojan, the president of St. Mary’s Community Centre, Thumbalai.
Following by the unveiling of the statue of Rev. Fr. Singharayar David, holy mass was offered praying for the repose the Soul of Fr. David Rev. Fr. Jebaratnam, the vicar general of the Diocese of Jaffna, presided over the mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine and unveiled the statue along with the inscription containing biographical notes of Rev. Fr. Singharayar David.
