The second memorial service for the late Rev. Fr. Edwin Saundara, a priest of the Diocese of Jaffna and the founder of the Punnaineeravi English Language Campus in Piramanthanaru, was held on January 13 at Dharmapuram Parish.
The event, presided over by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Nixon Colin, took place at the Punnaineeravi English Campus, where a Holy Mass was offered, followed by a tribute ceremony.
A memorial stone, established by the late priest’s family in his honor, was blessed and inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Nixon Colin.
Rev. Fr. Edwin Saundara had served as a lecturer at St. Xavier’s Seminary for several years before moving abroad after 1995. He later joined the Diocese of Michigan, USA, where he continued his teaching ministry.
Upon returning to Sri Lanka, he dedicated himself to uplifting English education among underprivileged students in the Vanni region. His efforts led to the establishment of the Punnaineeravi English Campus, where he passionately taught English, leaving a lasting impact on the local community.
