Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith appointed as the Apostolic Administrator

On August 19^th 2024, Pope Francis appointed Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith as the Apostolic Administrator of the Batticaloa Diocese.

 This appointment followed the resignation of Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah, the former Bishop of Batticaloa, who requested retirement.

 Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith, who currently serves as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo and heads the National Catholic Youth Commission, will now take on dual roles as the Apostolic Administrator of the Batticaloa Diocese and Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo.
