In preparation for the annual staging of the Passion Play of Thirumarai Kalamanram, the ceremony of distribution of scripts to the actors was held on the 14th of February at the Kalai-gnana-surabi Meditation Centre.
At this event, headed by the Deputy Director, Mr. Johnson Rajkumar, the Spiritual Director of St. Martin’s Minor Seminary, Jaffna, Rev. Fr. Reggie Rajeswaran, distributed the scripts to the artists who will be participating in the Passion Play.
This year, the version of the Passion Play entitled ‘Velvi-Thirumahan’ will be staged under the direction of Mr. Thairiya-nathan Justin Jelood from the 21st to the 24th of March.
It is noteworthy that this ‘Velvi-Thirumahan’ script, written by the founder of Thirumarai Kalamanram, the late Rev. Fr. Mariya-Xavier, was earlier staged in 2012, 2014 and 2016, and is being staged again after eight years, in 2024.
