On the occasion of the Feast of Pentecost, vigil services were conducted in many places within the Diocese of Jaffna. A vigil service was also held at St. Mary’s Cathedral under the direction of the Divine Retreat Centre.
This vigil service, which started on Saturday evening and lasted until Sunday morning on the 18th of May.
Many different religious congregation, seminarians and lay people conducted the prayer service and facilitated the people to pray.
On Saturday evening, Rev. Fr. Nesanayagam, the procurator general of the Diocese of Jaffna, celebrated the Vigil Mass.
The services continued until 3 o’clock in the morning, with Eucharistic Adoration at 3 o’clock and the Pentecost festive Mass offered at 4 o’clock at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
The festival Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Mavulis, the dean of Jaffna Deanery.
A large number of people devoutly participated in this service.
