The foundation stone for the Montfort Brothers’ “Montfort Home” was laid in the Alampil Swami Thottam premises on July 22, 2024. The ceremony was led by Brother Mariapragasam, the head of the Montfort congregation in Sri Lanka and the principal of Montfort International School in Allaipiddy, Jaffna.
The event was organized with the assistance of Rev. Fr. Jude Amalathas, Director of Alampil Swami Thottam. The foundation stone was blessed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, the Bishop of the Diocese of Jaffna, and laid by Brother Iruthayam, the Provincial Superior of the Montfort Brothers in Trichy, India.
The ceremony was attended by priests, religious, and Cluny Sisters. It is noteworthy that the Montfort Brothers, who have traveled from India and established an international school in Allaipiddy, are now expanding their mission with the creation of Montfort Home with the view to start an international school.
