The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new St. Joseph Vaz Church in Siribopura, located in the Hambantota parish of the Galle Diocese, took place on July 22, 2024.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures from the church community, including Rev. Fr. Charles Hewawasam, the administrator of the Christ the Healer Shrine in Weligama, Rev. Fr. Prasad Ruwan, and the procurator general of the Galle Diocese, Rev. Fr. Seneviratne, the parish priest of Hambantota, Rev. Fr. Susith Asiri, and Mr. Isan Fernando.
